Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in collaboration with Trekking Agents Association of Nepal has recently explored a new trekking trail from Pokhara to Khudi.

The trekking trail starts from Thumsikot- three hours drive from Pokhara- passes through Wardi Khola and Rudi Khola crossing the villages of Kaski and Lamjung district, a NTB statement said.

A feasibility study to this regard was done by taking trekking agents and journalists from Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Along the trail, culturally rich Gurung villages of Kaski and Lamjung can be seen. Throughout the trail, all villages have basic facility for home-stay accommodation and food which they are upgrading to give more facility to tourists. Trekking can be completed in three night and four days, however, 5 nights and 6 days is the ideal time to complete it, according to the NTB.

Apart from culture, beautiful mountain peaks - Annapurna, Machapuchhre, Dhauligiri, Lamjung- can be closely viewed from these areas.

To synergize effort, the Tourism Product and Resource Development Department at the NTB is closely working with Lamjung District Development Committee, Annapurna Conservation Area Project and Trekking Agents Association of Nepal to provide all kind of logistic support to villages to develop it as a model trekking trail, the NTB added in its statement. nepalnews.com pd Apr 26 05
