more on Nepal Officer - Koirala Clan (copied & posted for general interest) |
Dear Pushkarji, I was taken by surprise of your article about Sujata Koirala on her assumption to the Ministership. I do consider myself as one of the least pre-occupied persons about people's background about judging them. I do not see Sujata more than a Koirala princess. I have not seen her contributing to the height she has been granted other than circumstantial and opportunistic social service. She tried to break the peace deal not to mention the rejection of the jan andolan. Many of us imagine Sitaula may be compelled to accept the new mistress-designate, but we knew how she tried and may be still trying to derail Sitaula - unless it was a mere orchastration. I see it a sheer insult to democracy in the country and a testimony that country has a long way to go away from feudal monarchy. I strongly deplore the appointment and take it as sabotage to the faith of hundreds of democratic people in Nepal. Those who have appointed her to the Ministhership thinking as a heiress to the throne have blackmailed peoples' sentiments as they know people like me can't align themselves with makartantris - at any case. At some point of time, Nepalis had the misfortune of accepting Dipendra as a king despite he being pointed as a murderer (and Sujata's father had disgraced Nepalis by paying dhog (of course together with Makune) as a token of acceptance as a king to a suspected plotter of the massacre Gyanendra.) Appointment of Sujata is a similar situation. If she was indispensable for Girija babu one way or the other, this should have been adequately discussed. Let us know if you have any suggestions for improvement. lost transfer Of course, I do not judge all your past and future efforts you have/will put here for this blotch in your integrity that I see can be hard for you to accept given for your loyalty to Koirala clan. In despair, Teeka |
