Brief an TAAN ! |
Ladies and gentlemen, as a German travel agency that brings every year about 600 to 700 tourists to Nepal, we feel that we should tell you that we get a lot of phone calls and e-mails from our costumers at the moment. The people are worried that individual trekking might be stopped by TAAN and other tourism authorities from 1st of October onwards. Please be aware that tourism is a sensitive sector! Any wrong decision can cost you and the people of Nepal a lot of tourists. During the last years we have never made such an experience that the people get so much annoyed about planned decisions of the Nepalese tourist industry. We clearly can say by our experience that the tourists want to decide themselves whether they take guide or agency for their trekking-tour or not. They don’t want to be forced by anyone. They want to feel free in their travel-decisions. Especially the individual tourists still came to Nepal during all the years of political conflict. Because of a better political situation, for the first time since many years, now there is the chance that slowly more and more tourists might come to Nepal. If free individual trekking will be stopped, definitely less tourists will come to the country! You should think about that when you find your decision! To promote growing tourism, better framework conditions are needed. To stop free individual trekking would be a counterproductive decision in our opinion. More tourists means more business, less tourists means less business - Our impression is that the Nepalese tourism industry could benefit if you would include international tourism partners, who know very detailed about the wishes and expectations of the tourists from their own countries. Up to now the framework conditions in Nepal are not good enough to set the right impulses for a growing tourism. Still a lot of things have to be done! Nepal needs a professional general marketing concept on international basis if the country wants to master the challenges of the future in tourism sector. This is our kind peace of advice, if you please don’t mind. Thank you for kind attention! With best regards (Yak & Yeti Travels Germany)
